To this end, a great many businesses and institutions are seeking intelligent individuals who understand how the economy works and who can help them find solutions to economic questions. While the Bachelor's in Economics and Business Economics will effectively prepare you for a job, most students continue their studies with a Master's programme.

Specialise with a Master's degree

A Master’s programme enables you to gain advanced knowledge and engage in experience-based learning. The specialised knowledge and experience gained in your Master’s are assets in the job market that help you climb the career ladder. With your Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Economics you are guaranteed admission to one or more associated Economics and Business Master’s programmes. These follow-on Master’s programmes align seamlessly with your Bachelor’s programme.
Did you take a minor in a specific discipline during your Bachelor's programme? If so, you may be eligible for admission to the Master's programmes relating to that discipline. For some of these, certain admission requirements apply.

Masters you are unconditionally eligible to
  • Accountancy and Control

    Choose the specialisation Accountancy and Control, and be eligible to the 1-year MSc Accountancy and Control. In this Master's you will be prepared for a career in accountancy or financial management. The programme offers you a challenging combination of academic training and the application of international financial and reporting standards to complex real-life business cases. You will develop your intellectual skills, professional knowledge and gain the latest insights to take with you to your first employer.

    In our MSc Finance you will gain a deep understanding of financial decision-making and markets. We will train you in a broad range of skills to take with you to your first employer. You can choose one of our 6 tracks and focus on the field that interests you most. You are unconditionally eligible to this MSc after choosing the specialisation Finance.

    In this 1-year academic Master’s programme you learn to conduct research in business economics subjects. Choose from 2 top-level tracks: Managerial Economics and Strategy or Neuroeconomics. As an economist or business economist, you could take a position with employers such as:

  • multinationals, banks, pension funds and insurers (as a financial analyst, stock trader, investment expert, controller or account manager, for example)
  • large and small businesses in all manner of sectors (as a business analyst, strategic consultant, data analyst or portfolio manager, for example)
  • government ministries (as an economic adviser or policy officer, for example)
  • academic institutions (as a researcher or PhD candidate, for example)
  • consultancy bureaus (as an accountant or management consultant, for example)

The Economics and Business Career Centre (EBCC) helps you develop individual skills, gain experience and build connections. The team of personal development assistants, career coaches and internship advisors assist you in increasing your employability and confidence when you take your next step after graduation. The skills and experiences you obtained through your studies, internships, and study-related secondary jobs are your currency in a rapidly evolving labour market. The EBCC offers workshops, personality tests and more to help you enhance and improve valuable skills.

The EBCC organises large career events, often together with study associations. Meet employers and learn about the latest developments in job searching and employment.
