Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Spatial Sustainability Studies track in Human Geography and Urban & Regional Planning?
The programme allows you to chose between graduating as a Human Geographer or an Urban and Regional Planner. In terms of content, students take either a core geography or a core planning course in period one. And students will write their thesis in one of the two fields under supervision of a planning or geography staff member. The other courses will be followed together. To summarize, one core course (6EC) and the thesis (24EC) is what seperates the two tracks. The other 30 EC of courses are combined.

What's the difference between the two tracks in the Master's programme Urban and Regional Planning (track 1: Urban and Regional Planning, track 2: Spatial Sustainability Studies)?
The Master's programme Urban and Regional Planning makes a distinction between an integrative track to educate yourself as an allround planner and one that focusses on sustainability issues. So if you know that sustainability is your passion, you can choose Spatial Sustainability Studies. But if you want to learn more about a wide spectrum of the field of planning, also including Climate Proof Development, then the integrative track Urban and Regional Planning is the one you should choose.
