Conflict Studies

The minor Conflict Studies provides students with an interdisciplinary perspective that relates the analysis of local, national, international and transnational conflicts. It familiarizes students with critical theoretical perspectives, the research of different faculty, and with approaches to analyzing and addressing conflict.

For whom?

Students who are interested in:

  • the historical development of the field of conflict,
  • the causes and dynamics of conflict,
  • intervening and resolving conflicts.

Entry requirements

  • Students must have completed their first bachelor year.
  • Not open to students from universities of applied sciences (HBO).


  • Students can register for the minor by completing the webform (see the study guide).
  • Students from other universities must first enrol as a minor student of the UvA on
  • April 19 through May 29 2021

There is a limited capacity for this Minor, so it is recommended that you arrange your Minor application before the course registration period, as we cannot guarantee a seat at the courses for late applicants.
