The minor in Cultural Analysis offers you the opportunity to expand your bachelor's with courses that focus on the interdisciplinary, theoretical, and critical study of contemporary culture.
Internationally, Cultural Analysis is part of the larger field of Cultural Studies. From the 1960s onwards, Cultural Studies opened up the traditional objects of the Humanities to social, political, and philosophical questions; moreover, it introduced formerly neglected objects from popular, sub- and underclass cultures. This minor is related to the Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis (ASCA), one of the research schools of the Faculty of the Humanities, as well as to national school NICA (Netherlands Institute for Cultural Analysis).
