Assessment format and credit conversion

A course usually comprises 6 or 12 ECTS credits. One ECTS credit is equivalent to a study load of 28 hours. That includes attending lectures and tutorials, self-study and preparing for lectures and examinations. At the College of Communication you may take Open UvA Courses comprising a maximum total of 24 ECTS credits per year.

At the end of a lecture series you may sit an examination but that is not compulsory. You are entitled to one resit. You will be awarded a certificate for any examination you pass. Proof of participation will also be provided on request.

Admission and application

The College of Communication's Open UvA Courses are open to students from the EU/EER countries and Switzerland. The courses are part of the regular Bachelor's degree programme and your level of prior knowledge should therefore be comparable to that of other students. The entry requirements may vary for each course. Participation in the lecture series is subject to approval by the appropriate academic study adviser.
