The political science department at the University of Amsterdam was recently assessed on the quality of their research by an international committee. The department received a maximum score of 'excellent' on all three criteria: research quality, societal relevance, and viability! The committee characterized the department as 'one of the leading political science departments in Europe, if not the world.'

The assessment committee complimented the department on the 'sense of collegiality and mutual inspiration, also across different methodologies, approaches and research traditions', such that the department 'clearly seems more than the mere sum of a number of (undoubtedly!) excellent individual researchers.'
