The 1.5-metre social distancing requirement will be lifted as of 30 August. However, a number of additional measures will remain in place in order to ensure everyone's safety.

• This includes a maximum group size of 75 people per room.
• Face masks will be mandatory again in the campus buildings. You may remove your face mask in class once everyone has taken their seat or designated position to stand.
• We will continue to take additional measures in the area of hygiene. These include walking routes, maximum ventilation, additional cleaning efforts and disinfection facilities.
• Students and staff with COVID-related symptoms must stay home and get tested at the Municipal Health Service (GGD).

Maximum group size of 75 people

A maximum group size of 75 people will apply on campus. As a result, it will not be possible to hold large-scale lectures on campus. This will lead to logistical problems. For example, in cases where you have a lecture scheduled after a tutorial and travel time cannot be taken into account (whereby lectures must be attended on campus).

In order to minimise these problems, we will be organising additional streaming facilities for hybrid lectures (a maximum of 75 people in the room with the rest attending online) and are working to optimise the timetables.

Vaccinations

International students can either visit a vaccination unit on the Roeterseiland campus from 6 to 10 September, or they can get their vaccination at RAI Amsterdam any time after their arrival in the Netherlands.

You will not be required to prove that you have been staying in the Netherlands for at least one month or to have a BSN number.

Is this your first vaccination?
You do not need to make an appointment for either the campus vaccination unit or for the RAI Amsterdam location.

Is this the second time you are going to get a vaccine?
You do have to make an appointment. The Amsterdam Municipal Health Service (GGD) has set up a special appointment hotline for international students: (+31) 020 5555 202. You can also send an email to coronavragen@ggd.amsterdam.nl.

Self-testing

Self-testing will remain important. We hope that every student and staff member performs a self-test at least twice a week. These tests can be ordered free of charge at zelftestonderwijs.nl. Self-testing and vaccinations allow us all to contribute to a safe campus and the further easing of measures in the education system.

Doctoral conferrals

Doctoral conferrals are categorised as education-related activities and will no longer be subject to the 1.5-metre social distancing requirement. The maximum capacity of 75 people will remain in place.

Orientation period

All education-related and non-education-related orientation activities during the orientation period from 16 August onwards will be subject to the 1.5-metre requirement (and other COVID regulations). The format of the Introduction Week is consistent with these measures and will not need to be adjusted.

Working from home

The government still urges employees to work from home wherever possible if their duties allow it. This leaves very little scope for working at the office. Naturally, this does not apply to employees who need to be on campus due to the nature of their work, or employees who have made agreements to this effect with their supervisor.

Building ventilation

Some staff and students have questions and concerns about the ventilation of the lecture rooms. We understand these concerns and have been assessing the effectiveness of our building ventilation systems. All buildings have sufficient ventilation according to RIVM guidelines.
