Quantum technology makes some spectacular promises: we would discover new medicines, better batteries and ultraprecise sensors. However, it would also give hackers an unprecedented power to break cryptography. Will this technology be a curse or a blessing? Find out in this panel, moderated by Anna Gimbrère. About Florian Schreck

Florian Schreck is professor in experimental quantum physics, specializing in quantum sensing, simulation and computing with ultracold atoms. He obtained his PhD in 2002 at École normale supérieure (ENS) in Paris. He later worked at IQOQI (Innsbruck) before moving his research group to Amsterdam in 2014. 

About Eline de Jong

Eline de Jong studied philosophy, journalism, and ethics. She is interested in the dynamics between technology and values. She initially focused on AI in her work, but now mainly looks at quantum technology. She worked at the Scientific Council for Government Policy. Currently, Eline is pursuing a PhD in philosophy and ethics at the University of Amsterdam, researching quantum-safe cryptography. 

About Koen Groenland

Koen Groenland is quantum innovation officer at QuSoft: he connects academic research on quantum technology to real-world applications for businesses and society. He obtained his PhD in 2020 at the University of Amsterdam.  

About Anna Gimbrère

Anna Gimbrère studied Physics and Astronomy at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), and later became a science journalist and editor, working on projects such as the National Science Quiz and Galileo. Subsequently, she started working as a presenter on the shows "Oranje, Down Under" and "De wilde ruimte" (The Wild Space). Anna Gimbrère will moderate this discussion about quantum technology.
