In this two-year Master’s programme you can choose between two specialisations, Bioinformatics or Systems Biology, or you can choose both. In the first year in particular, much attention is paid to the basic principles of both bioinformatics and systems biology. In the second and final year you do one or two research internships, complemented by elective courses depending on your preferences.
The University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam have joined forces in the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Master’s programme. As a student you will benefit from expertise, networks and research projects at both universities and affiliated research institutes. Upon completion of the programme you will receive a joint degree certificate.
The entry requirements and the application procedure for this Master’s programme depends on whether you have completed your prior education in the Netherlands or abroad.
The Master's programme Bioinformatics and Systems Biology is only offered as a full-time programme. Due to the nature of the study programme, it isn’t possible to study in part-time.
