What does the study programme look like?
The Master's programme in Biomedical Sciences is a two-year programme. The cluster in Medical Biology offers seven pre-defined specialisations or tracks in:
- Medical Biochemistry and Biotechnology
- Cell Biology and Advanced Microscopy
- Infection and Immunity
- Developmental and Therapeutic Biology
- Oncology
- Experimental Internal Medicine
- Cardiovascular Sciences
At the beginning of the first year all students must enrol in the compulsory course Molecular Biology of the Cell. Further elective and compulsory coursework and research training largely depends on the individual preferences and the choice of your specialisation.

Up to, but no more than, 240 students are admitted to the Master’s Programme Biomedical Sciences. If more than the maximum number of candidates are found suitable, candidates will be selected on (in random order):

- Subject of Bachelor’s thesis
- Motivation

Can I study this programme in part-time?
All tracks of the Master's programme Biomedical Sciences are offered as a full-time programme. Due to the nature of the study programme, it isn’t possible to study in part-time.

How do I apply for this Master’s programme and when is the deadline?
The application process and the deadline depend on whether you have completed your prior education in the Netherlands or abroad.
