Master's Pedagogical Sciences, track Youth at Risk

Prepare yourself to become a trained professional with excellent international career opportunities in policy, research and development, and prevention practice in the field of youth care – working with youth, parents, peers, and schools.

Where do our graduates work?

You can work on every level of prevention programmes for youth: 

Creating prevention programmes: policy advising municipalities 

  • Policy Advisor at an agency or municipality (also ZZP) 

  • Method developer (also ZZP) 

Coordinating the progress: organisations that implement prevention programmes 

  • PI Duivendrecht – implementing parenting interventions 

  • Ouder-Kind Teams Amsterdam 

Investigating the effectiveness: research-related jobs 

  • PhD student 

  • Researcher at national knowledge institute, like Trimbos 

What skills will you get? 

As a graduate of the Youth at Risk Master's track, you can use your knowledge to make and oversee youth care policy, conduct research, and teach on child and adolescent (risky) development. Additionally, you can support at-risk youths and their parents, peers, and teachers.

Your diploma is not a farewell

After graduating, you don't have to say goodbye to the University of Amsterdam! We are happy to help you develop your career. You can join the young alumni programme, which will assist you in mapping out your career. And as an alumnus, you can also still use the Student Careers Centre.
