Graduates of the Political Theory track are trained to analyse complex societal and political issues from a variety of perspectives, to express themselves precisely and concisely both verbally and in writing, and to think and work creatively and methodically. Armed with these crucial practical and intellectual skills, graduates are equipped to excel in a wide range of professional organisations and functions.

Where do our graduates work?

Graduates find careers spanning the public, private, and non-profit sectors. They work for think tanks, NGOs, the media, international organisations, governmental organisations, and businesses.

Alumni of the Political Theory track are currently employed as:

  • researchers,
  • teachers,
  • journalists,
  • consultants,
  • policy-makers,
  • and analysts – including at the Bundesbank and the Korean embassy in London

Graduates seeking a research career within academia are eligible to pursue a PhD. Recent alumni of the political theory track have successfully secured funded PhD positions at top-ranked universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Columbia, and McGill.

Your diploma is not a farewell

After graduating, you don't have to say goodbye to the University of Amsterdam! We are happy to help you develop your career. You can join the young alumni programme, which will assist you in mapping out your career. And as an alumnus, you can also still use the Student Careers Centre.
