You can browse through all Psychology Master’s tracks to find the option that best matches your interests and career plans. Once you have chosen a track, check the entry requirements under ‘Application and admission’ > ‘Entry requirements’ to see if you are eligible.

We cannot provide preliminary assessments of your eligibility based on information sent by email. Please check the entry requirements for your preferred track and submit your complete application, including your transcript and all other required documents. Your eligibility will be assessed as part of the application process.

The Graduate School of Psychology offers three Master’s of Science programmes:

• • Psychology 
  • Healthcare Psychology (Dutch-taught only: Gezondheidszorgpsychologie),
  • Research Master’s in Psychology.

A master’s track is a specialisation within a Master’s programme. Each track has a specific profile, (partly) specific modules and specific entry requirements.

The Master’s in Psychology offers 10 tracks. Nine of those are taught in English: Behavioural Data Science, Brain & Cognition in Society, Coaching & Vitality in Organisations, Consultancy and Organisational Development, Cultural Psychology, Health Promotion & Behaviour Change, Human Resource and Career Management, Sport and Performance Psychology and Social Influence. The track training and development is offered in both Dutch and English.

The Master’s in Healthcare Psychology offers 4 tracks: Klinische forensische psychologie, Klinische neuropsychologie, Klinische ontwikkelingspsychologie en Klinische psychologie, all of which are offered in Dutch.

The Research Master’s in Psychology does not have tracks. Instead, you choose a major and minor within the programme.

A separate course and/or a semester abroad is not enough to be exempted from handing in your English test scores. Please read the specific requirements at the application and admissions page of your preferred mastertrack.

EC stands for a European Credit. In the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), one EC represents 28 hours of workload, including class attendance, self-study and examination

In order to compare your credits to ECs, we advise you to ask your university how they usually do this. They will most likely have a way to measure the workload which can be compared or converted to ECs.

If you meet the entry requirements, we advise you to apply, even if you’re not totally sure about the credit and level comparison. Once we receive your application, our credential evaluation team will check whether your curriculum and diploma meet the standards of our programme.

In order to be eligible, you have to meet the academic requirements as listed on the entry requirements page. Only credits (EC) earned as part of an accredited academic programme can be used to demonstrate that you meet the admission requirements. Courses, research projects, work experience, or other activities completed outside an accredited academic programme will not be taken into consideration.

Fill out the Proof of Qualification form as completely as possible. In Step 3, add a sentence stating that you are applying for the pre-master’s programme. In case you do meet part of these requirements, list the relevant courses and include their course descriptions. Note that you do have to meet the basic requirements (step 2), so please fill out the other steps accordingly.

Yes, you should submit your application according to our instructions and upload all requested documents. In the Proof of Qualification document, please mention that you are currently doing a pre-master’s programme and fill out your pre-master’s courses here. Please also upload the decision letter from last year that lists your pre-Master’s courses.

If you can’t click ‘submit’ in our online application system, you have not yet completed one or more mandatory questions. Mandatory questions are marked with a red asterisk (*). Check the application form and make sure you have answered all mandatory questions before submitting your application.

This is a message that Studielink shows automatically. It is safe to ignore this message as long as you complete the entire application procedure before the deadline (see information listed under the header “application & admission” on the webpage of the track you intend to apply for). If we receive your application on time, we will process it and our credential evaluation team will verify whether your degree meets the standards of our programme.

When registering in Studielink, you should select the the right Master’s programme: ‘Psychology’ or ‘Gezondheidszorgpsychologie’ or ‘Research Master’s. You will be then be able to specify the master's track. See the step-by-step plan under 'application and admission' for further information. For the Research master’s in Psychology there are no tracks to choose from.

Yes, you can choose one track in Studielink. In SIS you will be able to choose a second Master's track. 

Please get in touch with the Admissions Office at admissions-psy@uva.nl (unless you have already emailed us, then we will get back to you). We will send you the information you need in order to submit your application for a second Master’s track.

For the admissions round with a starting moment in September you will receive the outcome around mid-May.

No, accepting the offer does not oblige you to enrol and pay tuition fees. You can still cancel your enrolment request before the start of the academic year.

However, it is necessary that you accept the offer so that we can take the necessary steps to complete your registration. If you do not accept the offer, you may not be able to sign up for courses in time. We therefore advise you to accept the offer as soon as possible, but in any case within the time specified in the admission decision. If you subsequently wish to cancel your enrolment, please contact the Admissions Office at admissions-psy@uva.nl. 

Unfortunately it is not possible for the Master's programmes to defer the offer to next year. You are welcome to reapply next year.

Applications may be processed at different times, so not hearing from us yet does not mean that your application was unsuccessful. You will receive the outcome of your application around mid-May. We kindly ask for your patience.

Yes, we do accept a notary certified copy of your diploma.

It can take up to three to four weeks after receipt of the documents before the corresponding item in your checklist Registration in SIS is ticked off.

Admitted students are informed about which documents we need, and how these documents should be sent to us. The candidate’s university has to email the documents to us. We do not accept digital documents that you mail to us yourself.

Consider the following points:

• • Your name and UvA ID (student number) must be stated in the e-mail subject line.
  • The date of graduation must be stated on the diploma.
  • The list of grades must include the name of the educational administrator of the school.
  • The documents are encoded and/or digitally signed by your school.
  • The documents contain both a stamp and a signature of the school.

If you cannot make the 1 September start, you can cancel your application any time, even if you have already accepted your place. (If you cancel before 1 September, you will also be reimbursed for any tuition fees already paid).
