The UvA aims to provide an environment where social safety is the norm. This page outlines our central policy, as well as the measures and support we offer.

University-wide and faculty-specific policies

The UvA Code of Conduct describes how we wish to interact with each other.

In line with the UvA-wide code of conduct, several faculties have developed their own guidelines or recommendations to prevent and address undesirable behaviour. These can be found on our staff website.

Various channels to discuss and report undesirable behaviour

Are you confronted with undesirable behaviour? There are several ways to discuss and report it, for students, staff members, PhD candidates and visitors. Not sure where to turn to? The Reporting Point for Social Safety and Integrity can help guide you.

You can also submit a formal complaint. For this purpose, we have a complaints procedure and an independent complaints committee. We handle every complaint carefully and seriously.

On top of this we invest in raising awareness through campaigns and training on social safety and (un)desirable behaviour for staff and students.
