During the FutureFest, various partners are organizing a wide range of activities across the city, as a springboard toward a livable Amsterdam of the future. As a knowledge partner of the city, the University of Amsterdam (UvA) is participating with the following activities:

• June 14 – Open Tower Day: During Open Tower Day, you can visit more than 35 towers in Amsterdam for free – including the astronomical domes on the roof of Science Park. Read more
• June 16 – Are quantum computers a threat to our payment system?: UvA Professor of Theoretical Computer Science Christiaan Schaffner will discuss quantum technology with Jan van Rooij, Senior Information Security Officer at De Nederlandsche Bank. Read more

• June 18 – Help build Amsterdam’s digital time machine: The University of Amsterdam brings the city’s history to life – and you can help! During a special data sprint, you’ll connect the favorite places of over a hundred Amsterdammers to old maps and archival materials. Read more
• June 18 – Science Fair with the UvA on the roof of NEMO: Talk to UvA scientists and discover how nature and technology come together on the completely renovated rooftop square of NEMO Science Museum. Read more
• June 19 – Green Hydrogen: On June 19, head to Theater Amsterdam and learn all about the import, opportunities, and value of green hydrogen during the H2A Symposium. Read more
• June 19 – Shaping Tomorrow’s Health Today: How can science improve health and promote a sustainable future for the next generations? Join the conversation with scientists, policymakers, and healthcare professionals.Read more
• June 20 – Meet the Professor: On June 20, 2025, the second edition of Meet the Professor Amsterdam takes place. In honor of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, this edition will be expanded, with twice as many participating scientists and schools. Read more
• June 21 – Festival on the Ring: On the longest day of the year, we’ll celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th birthday on 15 car-free kilometers of the A10 ring road. It will be a truly Amsterdam-style celebration, with music, sports, dance, art, science, food, and drinks. Amsterdam’s knowledge institutions will also be present with the City of the Future. Read more about UvA’s activities here
