Campuslink is organising this event together with the University of Amsterdam, UvA Student Careers Centre and several ministries, such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. During the evening, you will meet professionals from the Dutch national government, hear personal stories from alumni and have plenty of opportunity for informal networking. The event places particular emphasis on lowering barriers for students and young professionals with a bicultural background, but it is open to anyone who is interested in a career within the Dutch national government and wants to make a societal impact.
Speakers
Nora Achahbar is a legal professional and served as State Secretary for Benefits and Customs from July to November 2024. Before that, she worked for many years as a public prosecutor and as a deputy judge. Drawing on her legal and public-administration background, she engages with issues relating to law, government and social responsibility.
Haniye Mehrabi studied at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and works at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. She has also been involved in student initiatives focused on community, engagement and an inclusive academic environment. Among other roles, she served as Commissioner of External Affairs at VU Family.
Paul Guds has more than 15 years of experience in public administration at national, water authority and local-government level. Throughout his career, he has held a range of roles, including policy adviser, senior policy officer, directorate adviser and executive secretary. Governance and public decision-making have been recurring themes in his work. He currently works at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, in the Society and Integration Directorate, where he focuses on issues concerning religion and society.
Soumaya Bazi is a storyteller, writer and filmmaker from Amsterdam Nieuw-West. She writes poetry and prose, among other things, and has experience as a presenter and moderator. Her work centres on themes such as identity, culture, social engagement and personal experiences. She created and presented, among other projects, FF Eerlijk, a series by Amnesty International Netherlands.
