The teaching of Nieuwenkamp and Becker is interdisciplinary and focuses on the relationship between political governance and civil service, the quality of government organisation and its relationship to employers and employees, and the political and administrative integrity of public service. The chair is at the intersection of constitutional and administrative law, civil service and labour law, labour relations, government organisation and personnel management techniques.
Roel Nieuwenkamp will predominantly deal with the practice of the government as a labour organisation. Political-administrative relations and international developments will also take centre stage. Alexander de Becker will particularly focus on the scientific background of the government as a labor organisation. He will focus research on all aspects of civil service status in the Netherlands, comparing it with that of civil service colleagues in other EU countries and their counterparts in international organisations (such as the EU).
