Combining knowledge and skill
The conservator combines academic knowledge and technical skill to preserve our cultural heritage for the future. This involves profound knowledge of materials and techniques, analysis of meaning and context, and conservation ethics. The challenge is to combine this all for each case, ranging from Rodin’s bronze Thinker and wooden furniture in the Royal Palace to Mark Rothko’s abstract paintings.
