Next week we will kick of the fourth edition of the online student conference ConNext: ConNext 2024. For four consecutive weeks students from conservation training programmes around Europe will present their object treatments and research within the field of wood, furniture and related materials conservation. A wide array of objects and materials will be discussed: from painted surfaces to objects damaged by flood and from polyurethane foam upholstery to non-invasive techniques for examining dyes and colourants.

Participating institutes

This student conference is organised by the conservation training programmes of the University of Amsterdam (NL) and the University of Antwerp (BE) with help of the Cologne Institute of Conservation Sciences (DE), University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim (DE), the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam (DE), the University of Lincoln (UK), West Dean College (UK), Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (PT), Winterthur/University of Delaware (USA), Institut National du Patrimoine (FR) and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre (BE).

All abstracts of the presentations of this year’s edition can be found in the ConNext Book of Abstracts 2024.

All ConNext sessions are open to all and free to follow, no registration is needed. All sessions start at 19:00 with a keynote speaker and end around 21:00. You can join the online platform 15 minutes before the start of each session.
