The Master's track Evolution of Behaviour and Mind builds on the internationally renowned research of the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED), the Psychology Research Institute (PRI) and the Center for Research in Experimental Economics and Political Decision Making (CREED). Teaching and learning activities are firmly integrated with the current research. Track-specific research can be fundamental (e.g., the evolution of cooperation, foraging cognition) or applied (e.g., the evolution of mental disorders, decision making).

To be eligible for the track Evolution of Behaviour and Mind of the Master's programme Biological Sciences, you must hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Psychobiology, Future Planet Studies with major Biology or major Future Earth, Beta-Gamma with a major Biology, or an equivalent degree from a Dutch educational institution.

In addition, you are eligible when you hold a Bachelor’s degree of Science (BSc), with the following conditions:

• Demonstrated experience with the full empirical cycle (e.g., a Bachelor's research project with the full empirical cycle);
• Demonstrated knowledge of statistics;
• At least one course (6 EC) on evolution of behaviour and/or mind.

If more than 20 students are eligible for this track, a selection procedure will take place.

All tracks of the Master's programme Biological Sciences are offered as a full-time programme. Due to the nature of the study programme, it isn’t possible to study in part-time.

The application process and the deadline depend on whether you have completed your prior education in the Netherlands or abroad.  We strongly recommend to start the application procedure at least a week before the deadline. Getting all your documents ready and going through the process will take several days.
