An interdisciplinary academic approach
The Master's programme Language, Literature and Education offers a unique, interdisciplinary approach to the study of language and literature learning, combining linguistics and literature courses in your language of choice with courses in language and literature teaching. Individual components are electives or an internship, and a thesis written in the language of specialisation.
Language and literature in an educational context
Drawing from research and practice, you will take courses in both linguistics and literature. The linguistic strand of the programme focuses on language use, language variation and (foreign) language learning and teaching, while the literary strand zeroes in on the practical and conceptual ties between literature and education, addressing questions such as: How does one ‘teach’ literature? What is it that literature teaches us?
Specialising in a language of your choice
The Master’s in Language, Literature and Education responds to the educational needs of our contemporary multilingual society, where specialised knowledge of more than one culture and language is increasingly important. With experts in English, French, German, Italian, Scandinavian, Slavonic and Spanish, you will be able to take classes in both the linguistics and literature of your language of choice and apply theory and practice to your chosen language context.
