Business Administration: Designing Effective Organisations

In this minor you focus on how companies can get competitive benefits from designing effective organisations based on thorough knowledge about motivating people, using ICT applications and developing efficient business processes. The minor also provides insight into current and expected developments within the theoretical and practical analysis of these core areas within business administration. You are encouraged to make research-based connections between the theory and practice of designing effective organisations.

This minor is of interest for all students who aspire to fulfil policy- or management positions within business (banks and companies) or the government. A minor in Business Administration provides you with a good basis to be able to think about these types of issues and to work with the professionals in this field. After the completion of this minor you will be able to operate in local, national and international companies.

Entry requirements

  • You can apply for this minor if you are a Bachelor’s student and have obtained at least 60 ECTS at the time of application. The minor is also open to students from higher professional education (HBO).
  • This minor is not open for students from UvA Economics and Business Bachelor's programmes in Business Administration and Economics and Business Economics.
  • No prior knowledge in Economics or Mathematics is required.

When applying, please submit:

  • a signed and stamped extract of your study results (for non-UvA students)

The registration period for this minor has passed. Registration for this minor in the academic year 2026-2027 will open in spring 2026.
