Course Details

This course is offered entirely through e-learning. The study programme provides clear weekly deadlines to complete the course within 8 weeks, but you also have the option to progress at your own pace, either faster or slower. In addition, you will work on assignments both individually and in groups with fixed deadlines.

Assessment consists of a written assignment and a subsequent oral defense. Course materials and assignments can be followed in either Dutch or English. Most of the literature is in English.

What will participants learn?

  • How to place data science and AI within the broader context of healthcare
  • How to critically evaluate research and scientific articles on AI in healthcare
  • How to set up a data science project using established design methods
  • How to perform an initial data analysis using machine learning techniques
  • How large language models such as ChatGPT work and what their strengths and limitations are
  • How to take privacy and data confidentiality into account in AI projects
