Our Dutch language courses are aimed at highly educated foreigners with a strong command of the English language. We offer courses at several levels with different schedules and different prices. If you are a native German speaker who is looking for a way to learn Dutch to complete the State Exams within one summer, the Intensive Summer Course for native German speakers is a good option for you
The Summer Course is an intensive programme, ideal for those aiming to spend their summer both learning Dutch as well as enjoying their holidays.
Target group: UvA students and other higher educated foreign language speakers
Class size: Approx. 18
Language of instruction: Absolute beginners level: Dutch and English / Other levels: Dutch
Hours per week: Four 4-hour classes and between 12-16 hours of self-study
Class days: Classes take place Mo, Tue, Thu and Fri 09:00 - 13:00.
Course duration: 3 weeks
Period: 8 - 26 June 2026 (Absolute) Beginner & Pre-Intermediate level)
Period: 6 - 24 July 2026 (Absolute) Beginner & (Pre-) Intermediate level)
Period: 3 - 21 August 2026 (all levels)
This course takes five weeks in total and concludes with the State Exams. It is a full-time programme that aims to enable native German speakers to learn Dutch at an advanced level so they can start a Dutch-taught university programme in September. Hours per week: 16 hours worth of classes per week and a minimum of 20 hours of self-study
Summer course for Native German Speakers: 15 June - 16 July 2026.
Class Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9.00 - 13.00.
Please note that the last class will be on Thursday, July 16th. The class that was planned on the last Friday of the course will be rescheduled. This is because of the NT2 Exam (see below).
