Thinking City: Beyond Resilience
Zef Hemel is Professor on Urban and Regional Planning at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, department Human Geography, Planning & International Development Studies. Since 2012 he holds the Wibaut Chair. From 2001 to 2004 he was director of the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design. Since 2004 he is member of the board of the Urban Planning Department of the City of Amsterdam. There he organized ‘The Freestate of Amsterdam’ in 2009, which was the start of a different kind of planning.
The Summer School Thinking City programme is an initiative of the Foundation Thinking City (VMX Architects and Zef Hemel).
Summer School Thinking City 2015 is organised in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS), in partnership with the Academy of Architecture Amsterdam, Arcam, Pakhuis de Zwijger and StadsSalon.
