Professor Olga Fischer will be the new president of the International Society for the Linguistics of English.
In 2014 professor Olga Fischer of the English Department will be President of the International Society for the Linguistics of English (ISLE). The central aim of ISLE is to promote the study of English Language, that is, the study of the structure and history of standard and non-standard varieties of English, in terms of both form and function, at an international level.
Olga Fischer was elected as President-elect on 20 October 2010 during the ISLE conference in Boston and will start her Presidentship at the ISLE Conference in Zurich in 2014.
