Great news: nine students of our faculty were awarded the Faculty of Science Beta Teaching Grant.

On 19 June they cheerfully accepted their grants. It was a lovely moment that underlines their motivation and the societal importance of good science teachers. The grant offers financial support for the degree programme for becoming a first-grade teacher in one of the science courses that have a shortage of teachers (mathematic, physics, chemistry or informatics).

The Faculty of Science Beta Teaching Grant (FNWI Bèta-Lerarenbeurs) is meant for talented students with a passion for their field of science and education. The grant offers them the opportunity to earn a first-grade certification during or after their Master’s programme. These motivated students can pass their knowledge and enthusiasm on to the next generation. This is possible as fulltime teacher, or as a hybrid teacher who combines teaching with a job outside of education. In particular university schooled teachers can bridge the important bridge between secondary and scientific education.

By offering this teaching grant, the Faculty of Science hopes to make its contribution to a next generation of excellent science teachers.

We congratulate the recipients and look forward to guiding them next year in their journey towards the classroom.
