As it stands now, the 1.5-metre rule will remain in effect in August for activities with a social context. Education-related activities are exempt from this rule. It is not always easy to make the distinction between the two, so we have drawn up a guideline for the UvA: Orientation events for degree programmes and educational gatherings will be considered education-related activities, including their more ‘social’ conclusion. This does not apply to activities that are purely for fun, such as drinks receptions. If you have questions about organising an event, please contact evenementen-fs@uva.nl.
Degree programmes and study associations have asked for clarity on organising group travel. Because the number of infections is back on the rise in some countries, and due to the fact that insurers are still tightening their rules relating to the coronavirus, we strongly advise against organising trips from the UvA at this time.
Until 1 August, staff and students can still request self-tests at zelftestonderwijs.nl. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has decided to take the site offline with effect from 1 August. We are looking into making self-tests available for distribution on campus. More information will follow as soon as possible.
There have been questions about what to do with staff and students who have symptoms from September onwards. Unfortunately, the Dutch government has not yet provided sufficient clarity on this matter. It remains important to stay at home in case of symptoms and request a COVID-19 test. We expect this topic to be further clarified at the press conference on 13 August.
