Amsterdam Centre of European Studies (ACES) is delighted to announce that it has been successful in its application to Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. This is part of the European Commission’s Erasmus Plus programme which aims to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies worldwide. These Actions also aim at fostering the dialogue between the academic world and policy-makers, in particular with the aim of enhancing governance of EU policies.

Over the next three year period, ACES will deliver an exciting programme of summer schools, academic conferences, visiting lectureships and masterclasses. These will explore the current crises and challenges that the EU is facing, including climate change, the pandemic, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The objective of the proposal is to continue to increase knowledge, exchange ideas, organise dialogue and conduct research from a EU perspective. In particular, it is ACES’ objective to explore topics relevant to the Commission’s priority areas, i.e. Europe in the World, Sustainable and Green Europe, European Digital Sovereignty, and European Health Governance.

The project proposal builds on the successful activities of the JM Centre of Excellence (2014-2017 and 2018-2022.
