The goal of the Brain and Cognition programme is to obtain a better understanding of the nature of human cognition and its neural basis.
Programme group Brain and Cognition

The Brain and Cognition group focuses on understanding human cognition and adaptive behaviour in both health and disease. It studies two major and interrelated themes:

  • development of advanced theories and cognitive models to improve the quality of inferences focussing primarily on consciousness, decision making and memory
  • understanding and influencing the causes and consequences of neurological compromise and neurodiversity. Central is the pursuit of theories and models that can accurately predict behaviour andbehavioural changes with a high degree of external validity. In this pursuit, the group covers a broad range of research topics, from the anatomy of the brain to the autonomy of individuals.
