Why do some people fly over the world in a private jet, while others don't even have enough money to buy food? What is institutional racism, and what can be done about it? How are our lives affected by social media? Questions that are often discussed in the media, politics and public debate, but most people struggle to answer them properly. Apparently, a life filled with social experiences, does not make you an expert on social life. To become one, you have to study sociology.

Would you like to find out if Sociology is the right programme for you? Introductions are available throughout the year. Sign up to attend the UvA Bachelor’s Week or find an overview of all our events.
