Psychology: Behavioural Data Science (track)

During this track, you will learn to analyse data about human behaviour, which is an important and valuable skill in today's society. The police use data to predict the risk of burglary by area and week of the year, whereas insurance companies adjust their prices based on client data. Schools adjust educational programmes based on what is known about student progress. Companies, public institutions and governmental organisations: they all use the continuous stream of big data to describe and predict human behaviour.

Martha, student Behavioural Data Science

Student Martha always liked solving puzzles. As she got older, she got quite interested in human behaviour and psychology. In this Master's track, while programming, she saw the connection between solving a puzzle and a programming task. In this video, she shows you what a day in the life of a student looks like.

Study programme

The Behavioural Data Science Master's track aims to combine a thorough understanding of data science techniques and human behaviour modelling. With this programme, you will gain knowledge of psychology, research methodology and applied statistics at the undergraduate level. You will also receive training in advanced (big) data techniques, academic skills, as well as practical and professional skills.

Gain experience in applying your acquired knowledge and skills to

real life challenges

Education with a

small-group teaching approach

Deep dive into

big data, statistical learning techniques, psychological measurement and how to apply this in practice

Very promising

career prospects

There is a high demand for trained data scientists, which means that the career prospects are very promising. This Master's track covers a wide range of topics and skills. You have the opportunity to specialise in specific areas of behavioural data science.

Graduates of the track have gone on to work as:

  • consultants
  • data analysts
  • data managers
  • test developers
  • methodologists
  • researchers

Is Behavioural Data Science for you?

Yes, if you are interested in:

  • working with big data collected with modern digital technology
  • applying machine learning and advanced stats to real data
  • studying in a personal and inspiring environment
  • math, programming, statistics, and the challenge to discuss this with potential clients

Then Behavioural Data Science might be the track for you!
