Diversity is important to us. At the University of Amsterdam we aim to be a place where all students and staff feel at home. Each of us, with our unique personalities, backgrounds and talents, should be free to develop our potential fully and contribute to the identity of this University.
We want to be a university where everyone feels welcome, represented and heard. The focus is not only on ethnic or racial diversity, but also on equality and inclusion with respect to people of different socio-cultural background, gender, faith, sexual orientation or physical ability.
To achieve its vision, the UvA has appointed a Chief Diversity Officer who reports directly to the Executive Board. Each faculty has its own Diversity Officer and faculty student councils each have a member with diversity in their portfolio.
Together with the academic community, the Faculty Diversity Officers set the diversity policy for their faculty. The Chief Diversity Officer serves as the linking pin between faculties and policy at the central level.
