As in many major European cities, the demand for reasonably priced housing in Amsterdam is very high. Affordable housing available to UvA students is therefore limited. Students in general are advised to start looking for accommodation as early as possible. For our international students, each year we reserve a range of furnished accommodation in Amsterdam with different housing corporations.

How to apply for accommodation

If you have ticked the box for accommodation in your online application form and have secured your place in the programme by sending us your participation agreement, we will start the housing application process through our housing office. You’ll receive information from the housing office in May (fall students) or November (spring students). Please note that UvA housing is not guaranteed due to a shortage of student accommodations in Amsterdam.
