Since last year, Kiki, student Future Planet Studies, is an ‘climate ambassador for the future’ of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change. In this role she educates young people on social media, at schools, and in the European Parliament.

Kiki, also top model and climate activist, staes in an interview with the Dutch newspaper Finacieel Dagblad, in September 2022: "Sustainability still has a very boring image, so I want to tell a positive and even glamorous story. I want people to feel that they don't have to make any sacrifices, but that they can actually enjoy eating differently, buying differently, traveling differently." Who says fashion can’t meet sustainability?

Why studying Future Planet Studies?

The Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies asked Kiki what inspired her to choose Future Planet Studies. Kiki shares: "The interdisciplinary approach of Future Planet Studies appealed to me because collaboration between different disciplines is key to tackling climate change. In my second year, I chose the Future Earth track which focuses on earth sciences, biology and chemistry. Working together with other students who are doing the Future Society track ensures that we also learn to look at problems from another perspective. Partly for this reason, I am taking a minor in Development and Global Challenges, so I can delve deeper into the social side of the climate problem.”
