President of the Executive Board Geert ten Dam: 'Academics can excel in many different areas, but up to now they have been mainly judged on the basis of their contributions to research. Even though in reality teaching, impact, leadership and patient care (in the case of University medical centres) have also proved crucial to the success of our universities. That is why it is so important for us to move towards a broader form of recognition and rewards that reflects the core tasks of the university. These ambitions also fit in with the UvA’s Strategic HR Agenda.'
In the position paper the parties present a number of specific proposals aimed at effecting this new approach. How the UvA will implement this change will become clear in the coming period.
