Application steps
1. Choose a programme
Use the links below to choose a programme and view the application information for that programme.
The UvA also offers several European language Master's programmes, which can be found in the list of English-taught Master’s programmes.
2. Check the entry requirements
Check the specific entry requirements and deadlines for the programme of your choice.
3. Submit your enrolment request in Studielink
Studielink is the national online registration system for students who wish to pursue a degree programme at a Dutch university. The first step in the application process is submitting an enrolment request in Studielink.
4. Activate your UvAnetID
After submitting your enrolment request in Studielink, you will receive an email with your UvAnetID (username and password). Follow the instructions in the email to activate your UvAnetID immediately, for you will need it to complete your application. Please note that after submitting your enrolment request in Studielink, it may take up to 48 hours before you receive your UvAnetID. So make sure to register in Studielink at least one week before the application deadline.
5. Check you email
After registering in Studielink, you will receive emails with your UvA student number and instructions for the next step of the enrolment process.

6. Pay your application fee
All students applying for a Master’s degree programme with an international bachelor’s diploma are required to pay a non-refundable €100 application fee. Only after you have paid this fee the UvA can start to process your application.
Paying the application fee at Amsterdam Law School, Faculty of Science, Graduate School of Child Development and Education, Graduate School of Communication, Graduate School of Humanities, Graduate School of Psychology or Graduate School of Social Sciences
If you apply for a master’s programme at one of the faculties above, you first need to pay your application fee in SIS. You can pay your €100 application fee by credit card (Master or Visacard) or iDEAL.
Only after paying the fee, you can start your application in MyInfo or DataNose. It is not possible to start an application without paying the application fee.
Note that it can take up to 24 hours for your fee payment to be registered in SIS. Make sure to pay your application fee in time and at least 24 hours before the application deadline of your programme.Paying the application fee at Economics and Business (FEB)
If you apply for a programme at FEB, you will be asked to pay the fee when submitting your filled out application form in Embark. Submitting the form without paying the application fee is not possible. You can pay your €100 application fee by credit card.Applying for programmes at multiple Graduate Schools?
It can take up to 24 hours for your fee payment to be registered in SIS. Make sure to pay your application fee at least 24 hours before the application deadline of your programme.You don't have to pay the application fee:
- If you have of will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a Dutch research university or university of applied sciences (HBO).
- If you have the Dutch or Surinamese nationality.
- If you have already applied and have paid the application fee for another master’s programme at the UvA for the academic year 2024-2025.
- If you have started a UvA master’s programme in the 2021, 2022 or 2023 academic year.
- If you apply for a master’s programme at the Interfacultaire. Lerarenopleidingen (ILO), Faculty of Dentistry or Faculty of Medicine.
- If you are an exchange student.
- If you are applying through the Foundation for Refugee Students (UAF) and/or have an official refugee status in the Netherlands (as shown on your residence permit).
7. Pay the tuition fee (after admission)
After you have been admitted to a degree programme, you will be asked to pay your tuition fees. In order to be enrolled for your programme you must meet the requirements for each step in the enrolment process.
