Are you looking for information on how to find housing for your stay in Amsterdam? Do you have questions about practical matters? Would you like to find out how you can learn or improve your Dutch? Find out everything you need to know on this page.
For information on a wide range of practical matters – from the academic calendar to IT facilities and student counsellors – that will be useful to you if you are doing an exchange at the UvA, please visit our A-Z list by following the link below. There is also a FAQ you can consult. Lastly, you can also contact the International Office.
It is difficult to find accommodation in Amsterdam. The University of Amsterdam collaborates with several housing corporations which have student flats for international students in various parts of Amsterdam.
Exchange students receive information on the registration for accommodation from the Housing Department. More information can be found in the link below. Please note, that there is no guarantee that you will receive housing through the University of Amsterdam. We try to offer all students registered for housing accommodation. However, if the demand is higher than the number of rooms available then we cannot offer everyone housing. Therefore, students are recommended to also search for housing on the private market themselves.
Would you like to connect with your fellow local and international students and play an important role representing your university? Join our award-winning UvA Exchange Ambassador Programme! Every year, hundreds of exchange students attend the UvA for either a year or a semester, and just as many UvA students leave to attend partner universities abroad. The reason for this yearly migration of students is that the Erasmus Exchange Programme is one of the greatest culture and character-building programs.
Would you like to help prospective students by sharing your experiences at the UvA? Join our UvA Erasmus Exchange Ambassador Programme as an Erasmus Student Ambassador. It only requires 20 hours during one semester and can be used on your CV and added to your LinkedIn. Accepted exchange students will receive an invitation email, so don't miss it!
