Graduates of the Master's programme Cultural and Social Anthropology are trained professionals with a solid theoretical background and anthropological research skills.

Where do our graduates work?

As a Cultural and Social Anthropology graduate you can expect to work as:

  • advisor or employee at a ministry, municipality or other governmental institution
  • policy advisor, project officer or manager at a NGO, non-profit organisation, company or in academia
  • (independent) researcher or consultant on different topics

Graduates seeking a research career within academia are eligible to pursue a PhD. 

Dutch graduates can pursue a second Master's at the UvA in teaching to be able to teach at highschool or primary school.

Your diploma is not a farewell

After graduating, you don't have to say goodbye to the University of Amsterdam! We are happy to help you develop your career. You can join the young alumni programme, which will assist you in mapping out your career. And as an alumnus, you can also still use the Student Careers Centre.
