Paying the tuition fees is an important step in completing your enrolment. Other costs to keep in mind when planning your university budget include housing, living expenses, and learning materials such as books, stationary and a laptop.

Tuition fees  

You can calculate your tuition fee for this programme by using the Tuition fee calculator. Please note: the calculator does not work in Safari.

Study costs

In addition to your tuition fees, you will need to include a number of other study costs in your budget, such as books, stationary, excursions, a laptop or other equipment up to an amount of max. €642,-.

Application fee

All students applying for a Master’s degree programme with an international diploma are required to pay a non-refundable €100 application fee. You can pay your €100 application fee by credit card (Master or Visacard) or iDEAL. Only after paying the fee, can you start your application in MyInfo. It is not possible to start an application without paying the application fee.

You don't have to pay the application fee:

  • If you have of will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a Dutch research university;
  • If you have already applied and have paid the application fee for another master’s programme at the UvA for the academic year 2024-2025;
  • f you are applying through the Foundation for Refugee Students (UAF).

Columbia Law School

You are not required to pay tuition fees at Columbia Law School, but you will have to pay Columbia Law School for additional services (health service fee, mandatory CLS student health insurance, international student fee, student activity fee, university facilities fee, transcript fee, ISSO visa process initiation fee) amounting to approximately 3100 USD.

Students should also be aware of other expenses that are not covered by the Amsterdam Law School tuition fee or the additional services fee of Columbia Law School, such as travel costs to New York and expenses related to visa and housing.

Living costs and scholarships

Keep in mind that living in Amsterdam also includes costs such as accommodation, food and public transport.
