What is UvA Q?

UvA Q is a way for you and your fellow students to provide feedback on courses you recently took. After each course, you receive an UvA Q survey that only takes several minutes to complete. By letting us know what you appreciated and what can be improved, the university and your lecturers can enhance our education.

What happens with my feedback?

Your feedback is analysed to see where the course, your degree programme and the university can improve. Teachers read the feedback you submit about their course. So please make sure your feedback is formulated respectfully and mentions clear points of improvement. Write feedback that you wouldn’t mind receiving yourself. This way you can really help lecturers improve their course.

After the course, you’ll receive a summary of the survey results via Canvas. This report informs you about the course evaluation results and how your teacher(s) will use these results.

Is UvA Q anonymous?

Yes, your answers are anonymous whether you complete an evaluation online or on paper. The teacher cannot see who has given which answer, and results are processed and reported anonymously. Only if you write down something very recognizable as an answer to an open question, the teacher might be able to trace your feedback back to you (such as describing a very concrete incident or writing down your name).

An exception to this are evaluations that ask for your student number. It is not mandatory to enter your student number. If you do, however, you allow the programme to analyse the results in a little more detail.
