Do you have excellent analytical skills and a passion for solving problems? Is it your goal to use applied research to tackle complex real-life problems? The Economics Honours programme is a great challenge and a chance to broaden your horizon beyond the scope of your track.

Are you a student of the Economics MSc and do you have a record of academic excellence, a critical mind and an enthusiasm for applied research? Then this Honours programme is a great opportunity for you.

Why apply for the Honours programme?

The Economics Honours programme is your chance to broaden your knowledge within the field of Economics. Not only will you take the courses from your chosen specialisation track, you will also take extra courses and have the opportunity to work on challenging real-life cases. If you are driven and prepared to put in the extra work, this programme is a rewarding addition to your curriculum. It is the perfect chance to stand out to future employers.

Real-life business case: universal basic income, would it work?

A basic income is basically money to which you are always entitled, regardless of your assets, social status, or income. Although a basic income does not yet exist in the Netherlands, there have been some experiments. It’s an interesting, and hot topic for further investigation. What effects does a basic income have on well-being and behaviour? How does it affect the labour market? Or our social benefits and tax system?

Specific courses

The Economics Honours programme (15EC) is taken concurrently within your 1-year Economics MSc. Besides being able to choose your specialisation track, the Honours programme adds 2 extra courses and a research project to your MSc.
