The aim of this collaboration is to establish an overarching methodology that brings together techniques and technologies for data-related tasks, relying on fundamental principles of data management, system design and security. The systematic acquisition and management of research data involves many nontrivial and challenging tasks such as preparing data for analysis, making data available for reuse and replication, transforming data for new applications, and publishing data. Throughout these processes, the provenance of data and the privacy of data subjects is to be maintained. The research will lead to integrated techniques and technologies that serve different stakeholders, reducing their efforts, streamlining the processes, and increasing control and accountability. The proposed research directly benefits the DSC and the various faculties partaking in the Accelerate Programme.
The assistant professor will:
The DSC aims to enhance the university’s research by developing, sharing and applying data science methods and technologies. Through its Accelerate Programme, the DSC will support faculties as they pursue data driven research and stimulate the hiring of data scientists and engineers. The programme is not only intended to facilitate knowledge exchange throughout the university, but also incentivise the integration of these roles into existing research activity.
