After completing the course, you should:

• be able to identify the main international legal rules and areas of law relevant to international military operations;
• explain how different sub-disciplines within international law relate to each other and apply them in context;
• apply the relevant law to realistic case scenarios and  determine which applications are  best suited to particular situations;
• be able to weigh and evaluate alternative solutions;
• provide a considered opinion on which option is most in conformity with the law in relation to a given factual situation to some extent.

Fees and payment

The fee to enrol in a course via Open UvA Courses is based on the course’s European Credits (EC). Literature and travel costs are not included in the course fee. For this 6 EC course, the costs are 6x € 200 = € 1200.

Please indicate clearly on the digital application form how you (or your employer) want to receive the invoice. This can be by post or e-mail. The course fee due will be debited from your account by direct debit approximately 2 weeks after the registration has been processed.

Defence employees receive a discount on their participation.

Important general and cancellation conditions

Cancellations can be made up to 1 week before the start of the course. A € 50 administration fee will be charged. After that point, the contract cannot be cancelled and the full tuition fee is due.
