The Master's Latin America Studies is a research-based, interdisciplinary degree in which you will study aspects of societal transformations in Latin America. You will study current developments in the region such as imaginaries, identities, practices, struggles, and institutions emerging from vibrant societies. The strong focus on academic skills and fieldwork-based research, you will be provided with knowledge and tools to design and execute your own research in Latin America.

Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation (CEDLA)

The Master’s Latin American Studies is hosted by the Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation (CEDLA). CEDLA has promoted Latin American Studies in the Netherlands, and is one of Europe’s leading institutes in Latin American Studies. CEDLA is part of a global network of Latinamericanists and hosts several events such as lectures, expositions, and workshops. 

After graduation

After graduation you have a solid foundation for a career at research institutes, non-governmental and governmental organisations and civil society agencies both within the Netherlands and abroad.

Degree certificate

The Master’s in Latin American Studies is an accredited, post-initial degree programme. After successful completion of this programme, students will receive a legally accredited Master’s degree and the title Master of Arts (MA) in Latin American Studies.
