Meet some of the people who make up this Master's programme:
Academic staff
Prof. dr. Jan van Eijck
'The Master's programme Software Engineering is much more streamlined than other academic Master's programmes and offers a mix of theory and practice. Even though I specialise in the theoretical aspects, I make sure there's always a link with the practical side of things.'
Research institutes
The Master's programme Software Engineering is closely linked to the following research institutes:
- Informatics Institute (IvI, located in the UvA Faculty of Science)
- National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI, located next to the UvA Faculty of Science) - of which the Software Improvement Group is a leading research group that specialises in software technology for DSL development, and software analysis and transformation
- Information Management & Software Engineering department of the VU University Amsterdam
Students
Jeroen van den Bos
'This programme takes a much more in-depth look at the subject matter than comparable courses at a university of professional education. A software application may work, but what does that really mean? Does it mean the programme doesn't contain any bugs? That’s highly unlikely. So, is that a bad thing? How do you find out? These are the types of things you learn to think about during the Master's programme.'
