Anyone walking through Amsterdam’s historical city centre is closely surrounded by colonial history. But which colonial histories do the University of Amsterdam and its buildings harbour?

During this walk, podcast maker Maaike de Kleijn will guide you across six locations of the University Quarter, connecting their histories with contemporary themes such as racism, decolonisation, and human trafficking. The tour takes you to het Binnengasthuis, museum Allard Pierson, de Waag and het Bushuis/Oost-Indisch Huis, where guests are invited to talk about the university's colonial past and its contemporary ramifications.

The tour will be held in English and snacks and drinks will be provided at the Bushuis afterwards. The walk will take place outside, so if it rains, please remember to bring an umbrella.
