Science in Amsterdam
Researchers and students at the Faculty of Science are fascinated by every aspect of how the world works, be it elementary particles, the birth of the universe or the functioning of the brain. With education and research in mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, biology, logic and computer science, we are fully immersed in the entire spectrum of the sciences.
The Faculty of Science is located at the Science Park, an innovative hub of teaching, research and knowledge-intensive industry. To fully benefit from local expertise and facilities, and to offer science students a greater choice in elective courses, specializations and projects, the Faculty of Science collaborates intensively with the science faculties of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
The Faculty of Science participates in various exchange programmes:
- Erasmus exchange programme (see below)
- Global exchange programme (for students from outside the EU)
Courses and application
Below you can find more information on the application for the Erasmus Programme and the courses offered for exchange students by the Faculty of Science.
The Faculty of Science offers a variety of courses for both bachelor and master students. Although most of the Bachelor's (undergraduate) courses at the Faculty of Science are taught in Dutch, a number of courses are also taught in English. All Master's (graduate) courses are taught in English. Participation in Master's level courses is only possible if the exchange agreement allows it and if the exchange student meets the entry requirements.
Research
Students with an EU nationality who wish to take part in an internship or research project at the Faculty of Science are always welcome to apply. However, students are responsible for finding and arranging an internship/research project themselves. The best way to do so is by perusing the websites of the Faculty of Science research institutes. Once a suitable position has been found, interested students should contact the leader of the research group to find out if placement is possible.
