The University of Amsterdam is committed to embedding the principles of Open Science in our organisation and bringing about the transition to Open Science via our programme for 2025-2029.

The UvA established its first Open Science programme in 2020. This programme was focused on Open Access publishing, improving Research Data Management (RDM) to make research data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable & Reproducible), and ensuring digital sovereignty.

In order to realise our previously formulated ambitions and to meet the conditions for Open Science as stated in the National Programme Open Science 2030 Ambition Document, the UvA will take the following steps in the coming years: we will make it easier for researchers to share research data securely, reduce dependence on commercial providers for the publication of research results and research information, strengthen support for knowledge exchange between researchers and citizens, and ensure that practicing Open Science will be recognised and rewarded.
