Help solve economic questions
As an econometrician or data scientist you build models that can explain the problems under investigation and predict changes. With these models you help organisations and businesses deal with questions like:
- How will housing prices evolve over the coming years?
- How can traffic jams be reduced?
- How many people use another means of transport if fuel excise duty is increased?
- Is it possible to predict whether a customer is likely to purchase an item, based on their website click behaviour?
Take 2 minutes to find out what econometrics and data science are and why you enjoy the benefits from the work of econometricians and data scientists every day.

You will team up with fellow students to find solutions for these issues, which will widen your perspective and give you a great learning experience.
- Specialise in Econometrics or Data Science
After the 2nd year of the programme, you can choose between 3 specialisations: Econometrics, Data Science and the Free track. In the Econometrics specialisation, you learn how to build and use econometric models to analyse economic problems and make recommendations on economic policy. Focus in the Data Science specialisation is on large data sets (big data) that businesses collect. Learn how to programme and fine-tune tools to analyse these data and to predict human behaviour.

You will attend lectures at the Roeterseiland Campus, right in the heart of Amsterdam. Our campus offers everything you need to study effectively and meet with fellow students. From a large library and 1,100 internet-connected study places to a well-catered restaurant, student pubs and a cinema.
